Area Law Enforcement
Roughly 50 automobiles have been smeared with what appears to be blood from a person in the Germany's municipality of Hanau near Frankfurt, as reported by law enforcement.
Cars, walls and postboxes were marked, in some cases with swastikas, they stated in a official communication.
Officers say they were contacted late on Wednesday, when a individual observed that a car in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been covered with a reddish-hued liquid.
The substance had been drawn in the shape of a swastika, they reported.
Law enforcement then found many other smeared automobiles and house walls in the adjacent neighborhood.
Swastikas are prohibited in Germany under laws banning the public exhibition of Nazi symbols.
Police report early analysis suggest the substance was probably human blood.
"There is still no clue as to its origin; officials are currently not cognizant of any harm in relation with the event," they commented.
Local authorities said they were trying "to resolve the mystery" and have requested to the residents for tips.
A senior political figure commented the incident made him speechless and required to be solved promptly.
"This act affects the center of Hanau and reawakens the pain of the far-right violent incident half a decade ago," he stated on a platform, referring to the murder of nine people by a shooter targeting residents of migrant background in February 2020.
